20 Free Grunge Crochet Patterns

20 Free Grunge Crochet Patterns

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago, I asked what kinds of crochet patterns you’d like to see next, and leading by a point was Grunge! Honestly, I love the challenge because when you think of grunge, crochet might not be the first thing that comes to mind.

Grunge as a style is rooted in the alt-rock scene—the iconic Grunge 4: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Fashion-wise, it’s all about androgynous vibes, oversized hoodies, flannel shirts, slouchy jeans, faded denim jackets, and droopy beanies.

The cool thing about grunge is how easy it is to thrift for—it’s all about that lived-in, effortlessly cool aesthetic we love. And if you’re aiming for peak grunge vibes in your crochet pieces, color palettes are key. Think deep, moody tones, earthy neutrals, and washed-out hues especially capture that edge.

Today, I have 20 FREE grunge-inspired crochet patterns to share with you! I’ve broken them into three categories: Sweaters, Tops, and Accessories. You’ll find all the links to these patterns below so you can dive right in. Grab your hooks, and let’s get started!
