30+ Boho Desert Crochet Patterns

Desert Pillow by Regina Rioux Gonzalez, see the pattern here. 

First is the desert pillow by Regina Riouux Gonzalez. Once complete they measure 18 inches and is free on their website. To create it you start with the back then work the edging then the front and front edging, assemble it all together then work the braided edging and there are charts with this one as well, and I loved the color work on this one.

Boho Desert Blanket by Cypress Textiles, see the pattern here. 

Next is the boho desert blanket by Cypress Textiles. The special stitch with this one is the bobble stitch and increasing and this one you stitch up each of the sections and then connect them all together, and for this one it is actually a paid pattern in their book “The Art of Crochet Blankets” which has 18 different patterns in it. 

 

Boho Saguaro Baby Blanket by Cactus Flower Crochet, see the pattern here. 

I also liked this C2C Boho Saguaro Baby Blanket by Cactus Flower Crochet. It is a paid pattern in their Ribblr but it also includes written instructions if you prefer. It’s rated beginner but I believe it would be a bit more intermediate to make, and it would be great to make as a baby blanket or as a smaller throw even. 

 

Desert Stripes Pillow by Stitchberry, see the pattern here. 

I also like the desert stripes pillow by Stitchberry. This is a free pattern on their Ravelry, and is designed to fit a 16 inch square pillow insert. It’s made with bulky yarn and basic stitches so it’s beginner friendly and would work up quite quickly, and what I love about it is the embroidery which is customizable as well, it gives this piece a bit of nice texture to it. 

 

Boho Wall Hanging by Rachel Counts, see the pattern here. 

Next is the boho wall hanging by Rachel Counts. This is a free pattern on their blog, and it measures 8.5 inches wide by 12 inches long not including handle or fringe, and with the fringe it is about 24 inches long. Special stitches are the half triple crochet and bobble stitch, and this piece reminded me of macrame wall hangings, and it’d be perfect to make and add a bit of texture to your walls.

Or make the desert bloom blanket by Rachele Carmona. It is a paid pattern on their Ravelry, and is made of different motifs which includes a square that measures 6 inches and one that measures 4.75 inches. I love the choice of colors and textures with this one, and it would take a while to work up but would definitely be worth it. And I like the edging on this one and that nice lace-like touch it gives. 

Desert Bloom Pillow by Juniper and Oaks, see the pattern here. 

I also like the desert flower pillow by Juniper and Oaks. It’s designed to fit a 12 by 12 inch pillow form, and the special stitch used to make it is the jasmine stitch. It’s a free pattern on their blog, and to create it you start with the back panel, then the front and seam them together. It also has a lot of YouTube videos to help with each step of the way and I love the texture on this pillow, it would be so nice to whip up and add to a little boho nook.

Or make the desert wildflower tapestry by Trombley Studio. This one is based on the artist’s view of the Huachuca mountains growing up, and would be a beautiful pattern to whip up and display on your walls. It is more intermediate level to make as it is created using the tapestry crochet method and a grid and it’s a paid pattern on their Etsy. 

Desert Dunes Blanket by Willow Crochet, see the pattern here. 

Next is the desert dunes blanket by Willow Crochet. This pattern is a graphgan style blanket, and is created using the simple half double crochet and following a grid but there are also written instructions. It’s a free pattern on the Hobbii website, and it measures 50 inches by 60 inches, and this pattern would be a great intro to creating graphgans if you haven’t created one before.

Desert Cacti Pouch by Raffamusa Designs, see the pattern here. 

Another great pattern is the desert cacti zipper pouch by Raffamusa Designs, it’s a free pattern on their website and the special stitches are working in the back loop only, invisible color change, and invisible join. The finished size is 8.2 inches by 5.5 inches, and to create it you do crochet in the round using 3 strands of yarn which helps it stay sturdy and because there is a bit of color change and using the tapestry crochet method, I would say that it is a bit more intermediate to create. 

 

Broomstick Lace Shawl by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here. 

I also liked the broomstick lace shawl by Yarnspirations. It’s beginner friendly to make and is free on their website. It measures about 60 inches wide by 30 inches deep excluding fringe and only uses basic stitch to make it is made with bulky yarn so would work up quite quickly and I love the fringe on the end as well which gives it that nice boho flair.

Next is the boho shawl by Yarnspirations. It’s more beginner friendly as well and free on their website. The only special stitch is the picot stitch, and it measures 60 inches wide across and 27.5 inches long excluding fringe I love how it creates a triangle shaped shawl, and also love how they added the knots on the fringe to give it bit of extra texture. 

 

Boho Inspired Bag by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here. 

I also liked this boho inspired crochet bag by yarnspirations. It’s intermediate level to make and measures about 10 inches by 13 inches without the fringe. It uses basic stitches but is rated intermediate probably because you work the front and back pieces then layer three pieces together to join and finish off the body of the bag, and I love the texture of this one with the lace overlay and fringe. 

 

Desert Arrow Scarf by Linda Dean, see the pattern here. 

Another one is the desert arrow scarf by Linda Dean. This mitered design is perfect for showing off the beautiful shadings in the yarn. It’s free on their website and measures 7.5 inches by 60 inches, and all double crochet will be pushed to the wrong side of the row and it’s important to no work into the last stitch of the rows as well. And this one is quite repetitive and easy to whip up and finish in one craft session.

This desert sun hat by Julie King is also a great one. It measures around 6.5 inches in length and 20 inches around and the brim circumference is 44 inches, and it is worked in the round and it’s great because wire is added to the brim to give it structure and it’s free on her blog as well, and it’s very functional for actually wearing and protecting your skin from the sunlight.

 

Desert Dreams Slouchy by Fiona Langtry, see the pattern here. 

I also like the desert dreams slouchy by Fiona Langtry is a fun really slouchy hat for wearing to the beach or to festivals. It’s more advanced beginner level and it’s a paid pattern on her shop. This hat is basically a large mandala and uses basic stitches to make, and it’s intermediate level to make. And. I love that you can make this one with scrap yarns as well. 

 

 

Granny Square:

Desert Skull Granny by Correlli Crafts, see the pattern here. 

First is the desert skull granny square by Correlli Crafts. It is a paid pattern on their Etsy and measures about 6.75 inches square unblocked, and I would say it’s more intermediate or confident beginner level, but it also could be approachable for confident beginners. This pattern is definitely inspired by the Wild West. 

 

70's Saguaro Cactus by Snow Shine Creative, see the pattern here. 

I also liked the 70’s inspired saguaro cactus desert sunrise motif granny square by Snow Shine Creative. It measures about 6.5 inches square and is a very detailed pattern with photos and tips to help with each step. It uses basic stitches and is also suitable for intermediate or confident beginner level crocheters, and to create it the desert background is world with the border and then the saguaro cactus and sun are stitched up and attached after to finish it off. 

 

Desert Rose Square by Kirsten Hollow, see the pattern here.  

Next is the desert rose square by Kirsten Hollow. The pattern is free on their blog and starts out with a detailed and colorful center with 3 layers of petals, then the leaches are created in two parts, the bobbles and diamonds between the leaves can be worked in a solid color or multiple colors and then a border is worked with a variety of back post stitches, shells, clusters and single crochet stitches which are worked like spike stitches. Special stitches are the back post single and half double crochet as well as the back and front post double and treble crochet, bobbles, 2 double crochet and treble crochet cluster as well as spike stitches. Once blocked it measures 12 inches square, and I loved how detailed this design is and if you’re looking for ideas of what to make with your squares definitely check out my granny square projects video after this one. 

 

 

Clothing:

Mandala Lace Duster by Morale Fiber, see the pattern here. 

First is the mandala lace duster by Morale Fiber. It’s a free pattern their Etsy, and the special stitches are the double crochet with the last loop on the hook, four and three double crochet cluster, and the shell stitch. The pattern is written for small with changes for large listed afterward, and I love the details of this pattern and the potential that it has with layering and styling, and how she made it with a mixture of scrap yarns as well as hand-dyed and hand-spun and recycled yarn from thrifted sweaters. 

 

Boho Vest by Joan Barnett, see the pattern here. 

I also liked the boho vest by Joan Barnett, and this one is free on the yarnspirations website. It’s more intermediate level to create and there are sizes XS to XL, the special stitches are the double crochet 2 together, half double crochet 2 together and the shell stitch and to create it you start with the body then work the picot trellis pattern, then the half double crochet section and checkerboard pattern and then work the two panels for the front and work the shoulders and fringe and button loops to finish it off, and I love how you can add a big button for this one.

 

Desert Winds Dress by Loops Only Crochet, see the pattern here. 

Next is the desert winds dress by Loops Only Crochet, it’s a paid pattern on their website and is made to be a summer staple that is light, flowy and classic. It features a softly gathered bust with optional elastic for a snug fit, along with puff sleeves and a playful fringe trim. It also has a helpful YouTube video tutorial to assist with creating it and I loved the layers of fringe on this one. The special stitches are the half double crochet and  invisible join, And there are sizes XS to 2XL. 

 

Sunset Top by I Y Creation Shop, see the pattern here. 

The next pattern is the sunset top by I Y Creation Shop. It’s an intermediate level pattern that creates a long-sleeve top with airy mesh sleeves and can be worn off the shoulder, on one-shoulder, or with a ruffled neckline for romantic, elevated look. It’s a paid pattern on their website, and this piece is definitely on my list of pieces to make for Fall, it’s definitely a statement piece. 

 

Boho Tank by Hooked on Handmade Happiness, see the pattern here.

I also liked this boho tank by Hooked on Homemade Happiness. It’s more intermediate level to make, the special stitches are the treble 2 and 3 together, it’s made of 7 granny squares that are sewn together. The bust measures 36 inches, and the length is 19.5 inches not including the fringe. And this pattern is free on their website, and I like the button that is added on the back to finish it off

 

Desert Cover Up by Natalia Kononova, see the pattern here.

The desert cover up top by Natalia Kononova is a great pattern. It’s a paid pattern on their website and is more intermediate to create, and the sizes are small to 3XL. It has more of an over-sized fit, and I love the lacy nature of this design and how it looks like a mandala and I also like the tassels at the bottom.

 

Transitions Duster by Andee Graves, see the pattern here.

I also liked this transitions duster by Andee Graves. It’s more advanced level to make and has sizes Small to 2Xl. The special stitches are the v-stitch, increase v-stitch, granny shell, large v-stitch, 4, 6 and 8 double crochet open shell stitch. It’s worked from the top down and the upper body is worked in turned rows with 4 shoulder increases to create raglan sleeve shaping, the yoke is then joined at the shoulder increases to create armholes, and the lower body is worked in turned rows off the bottom of the yoke. Then yarn is re-joined to each armhole to work turned rounds for the sleeves with decreases for shaping. 

Desert Dreams Ponch by Fiona Langtry, see the pattern here. 

The desert dreams poncho by Fiona Langtry is a gorgeous make. It’s a paid pattern on their Ravelry, and is great for resorts, beaches or festivals. First you square off the mandala, then join them into one piece, work the sides and hemlines, trim the hem and work your neck then you’re done. And the special techniques are the chainless starting stitches, linked stitches, foundation stitches and crochet 2 or 5 together. This one is also rated more intermediate level to make. 

 

Fall in Love Blouse by Homemade Heart 44, see the pattern here. 

The fall in love blouse by Homemade Heart 44 is lovely. It’s a free pattern on the Hobbii website, and it’s an intermediate level, the sizes are Small to 2XL. And the special stitches are the front post and back post double crochet, shell, the v-stitch and increasing stitches with single crochet and double crochet 2 together. And it’s crocheted from the top down with a raglan yoke and beautiful sleeves in shell stitch and to create it you start with the yoke, works the body split for sleeves, then the border, the sleeves are worked in the round, then work the cuff and neckline to finish it off. 

 

Dune Mesh Top by ClaCrochet Studio, see the pattern here. 

Next is the dune mesh top by ClacrochetStudio, and it’s a paid pattern in their Etsy and is advanced beginner level to make. It has a modern design, is lightweight and versatile, and it’s perfect for layering with, and I also liked the color that this one was made in. 

 

Ombre Top by Hooked on Homemade Happiness, see the pattern here. 

Or make the ombre tank top by Hooked on Homemade Happiness, and this one is free on their blog. The special stitches are the foundation double crochet and double crochet 2 together, and there are sizes XS to 3XL and to create it has a classic fit with no positive ease and to make it you start with the armhole shaping and body then some sewing to connect the sides and work the straps to finish it off. And I loved the chevron design as well as the ombre fade and it would be perfect to whip up and wear for warmer weather.
