30 Halloween Crochet Patterns

Spider Web Afghan by Herrschners, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Spider Web Afghan by Herrschners. It’s a paid pattern and measures 54 inches in diameter, and is actually a crochet kit so that’s important to note. The kit includes the yarn, a storage bag, needle and label to personalize it. It is rated intermediate level to make and I love this color combo with the purple and green, but they also have a black and white one.

Or make the Ghost Reading Tapestry by Pink Poppy Patterns. It measures 17.5 by 11.75 inches and it’s more intermediate level since you need to be comfortable with the tapestry method and reading a graph. This one is a paid pattern in their Etsy, and I love the colors they chose but of course you can customize it to fit your space. And this would be so cool to whip up and put in a little reading nook. 

 

Ghostly Candy Bowl by Michele Wilcox, see the pattern here. 

I also liked this ghostly candy bowl by Michele Wilcox, and it’s a beginner friendly pattern and free on the yarnspirations website. It measures 10 inches in diameter by 9 inches tall, and the only special stitch is the single crochet 2 together. It’s good to note that the bowl is made with 2 strands of yarn held together and worked in continuous spirals, which helps it to be more sturdy and even. I also love the little ghosts and pumpkins which are worked and sewn on top to finish it off. 

 

Phantom Manor Blanket by Little Green Feather, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Phantom Manor Overlay Blanket by Little Green Feather. The blanket measures 57 inches by 71 inches and includes split charts. It is more intermediate to experienced because it does require you to be familiar with the overlay mosaic technique, and this one is a paid pattern on their website. 

 

Halloween Tree by Christiana Mershon, see the pattern here. 

You could also make the Halloween Tree of Spookiness by Christina Mershon. This one is free on the yarnspirations website and the only special technique is the adjustable or magic ring, and so it’s definitely beginner friendly. To create it you make the ghost ball, eyes and mouth, then finish it off with a bit of fiberfill and light sewing, and this one would be fun to create and decorate a halloween tree with.

Or make the Spider Web Table Mat by Cristina Mershon. It’s free on Yarnspirations, and the special stitches are the beg v-stitch, surface sl st, and v stitch. It’s 20 inches in diameter, and it is rated easy but I would say that it is a bit more confident beginner because you do have to be comfortable counting quite a bit working in the round as well as the special stitches and techniques required to make it. 

 

Creepy Cutie Pillow by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here. 

I also like the creepy cutie pillow by Yarnspirations. It measures 16 inches by 14 inches, and the special stitches are the half double crochet in the back loop only, half double crochet 2 together, and work in the round. To create it you start with the front, back, roof shingles, windows, then the roof, gussets, and door then embroider with chain stitch, the ghosts and pumpkins. And I love how detailed this one is and it’s a free pattern on their website. 

 

Boo! Mosaic by Rosina Plane, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Boo! Mosaic by Rosina Plane, and it is a paid pattern on their website and is a 6-part crochet along. It is more intermediate level as it does require the overlay mosaic technique to make. And it includes charts, written instructions and helpful photos and is very comprehensive which is helpful and I also love how detailed this design is a swell and it would be so fun to to play with the colors on this one. 

 

Boo Pillow by Loopy Lamb, see the pattern here. 

The mad about Boo! Pillow by the Loopy Lamb is also a great one. It’s free on their website and is more intermediate level to make as it uses the intarsia technique and it is accessible for beginners that single crochet and half double crochet. It includes a color chart and written instructions and only uses basic stitches and has a basic panel for the back. And this one would be so fun to display in a spooky cozy reading nook. 

 

Jack O'Lantern Blanket by Repeat Crafter Me, see the pattern here. 

The Jack O' Lantern Blanket by Repeat Crafter Me is also a great make. It uses the corner 2 corner technique, so you do have to be comfortable reading a chart and it measures 28 inches by 32 inches. This one is free on their website, and it would be perfect to make and snuggle under while watching a scary movie, and let me know what you favorite spooky movie is in the comments. I always love hearing recommendations of new movies to check out, and the more obscure the film the better! 

 

Accessories:

Skull Bag by Loopara, see the pattern here. 

First is this Skull Bag by Loopara. This is pattern for Halloween or year round even if you love giving an edge to your look. This one only requires basic stitches to make and to create it you make 27 motifs and use two colors to create each motif, and join them all together. Then you create the straps and attach the d ring. It measures 11 inches wide by 10 inches tall once complete, and this on is free pattern on their website. 

 

Black Widow Scarf by Wiam Alisa, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Black Widow Scarf by Wiam Alisa. The special stitch required is the double crochet three cluster, and it is free on their website. The finished size is 65 inches long by 9 inches wide. I love how long this scarf is and the tassels on this pattern, and this would be perfect as a layering piece on cooler evenings.

 

Spider Web Newsboy Hat by Hooked by Kati, see the pattern here. 

Another pattern is the Spider Web Newsboy Hat by Hooked by Kati. This one is perfect for Fall, and is worked from the center with some shopping and a soft brim that is attached to the hat. The web is stitched on and a graph provides the perfect way to attach each stitch. It fits a 22 inch adult head, and it’s beginner friendly to make and a paid pattern on the love crafts website. 

 

Skull Trick or Treat Bag by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here.

Another great one is the skull trick or treat bag on Yarnspirations, so it’s free on their website. It measures 6 inches in diameter by 6 inches high, and to create it you start with the bag, which is worked in the round, then work the eyes and handle. And to finish it off you sew the eyes to the bag, and embroider the mouth and teeth, and cut a circle of cardboard to fit in the bottom of the bag to finish it off. 

 

Clothing:

Batwing Summer Shorty by Katja L, see the pattern here. 

First is the batwing summer shorty by Katja L. It’s a lovely oversized and airtight short batwing sleeved sweater with a special spooky motif on the back. It’s created in two pieces and comes in oversized M/L but can also be adjusted to a smaller or bigger size. It’s more intermediate level to make and is in English, French, and German. It’s a paid pattern on the love crafts website, and I love that it’s light and airy and is a perfect piece to put on top of bikinis or dresses, and wear in Summerween. 

 

Night Flyer by Michele DuNaier, see then pattern here.

Next is the Night Flyer by Michele DuNaier. This one is a paid pattern on their Love Crafts website, and is rated advanced level to make. This is a gorgeous layering piece as well, and I really loved the colors that they used in this one. 

 

Ghost Sweater by Saimar, see the pattern here. 

Or make the Ghost Sweater by Saimar. It’s free on their website, and to create it you work it in panels, starting with the back panel, then the front panel with the ghost motif, then create the sleeves and cuffs, and assemble the sweater all together by joining the panels at the shoulders and attaching the sleeves and side seams, add the hem and eyes then block the sweater, and this one is made to measure. 

 

Ghost Sweater by Szydelkoperz, see the pattern here. 

You could also make these Flared Sleeves by Szydelkoperz. It’s a paid pattern on their Etsy and is a statement piece that adds elegance and edge to any outfit. You can sport it over dresses, corsets or even casual looks. It has sizes XS to 4XL, special stitches are the foundation single crochet and treble 2 together. It’s more intermediate level to make, and I love the open work, lacy effect that this one has. 

 

Skulls and Cones by Alice in Crochetland, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Skulls and Cones Sweater by Alice in Crochetland and it’s a paid pattern on the love crafts website. It’s made to measure, so that means that you can adjust it to fit your specific size and body type. It’s worked flat from the bottom-up, and you can make it sleeveless, cropped, with short or long sleeves. You can also make the sleeves flared or cuffed. And it is rated beginner but I would say it’s more intermediate level because of the motif as well as it being made to measure. 

 

Ghost Vest by Krafty Station, see the pattern here.  

This Ghost Vest by Kraft Station is also a lovely one. It’s free on their website and to start it you start with the ribbing on the bottom, then work the back panel, front panel and crochet the graphic ghosts, and the straps and add ribbing for the neckline and armholes. To finish it off you sew the side seams and attach the straps and sew ribbing pieces for the armholes and neckline. This one is definitely more intermediate level because of the color work needed to make the ghost and you have to follow the chart, but there is a helpful video tutorial to make it as well which is really helpful.

Aliens:

Campfire Conspiracies by The ADHD Crocheter, see the pattern here. 

First is the Campfire Conspiracies by the ADHD Crocheter. To create it you work the overlay mosaic technique, and this one is a paid pattern int heir Etsy. The design features Bigfoot and an alien at a bon fire, with the UFO parked in the background, and this one would be perfect to even create with glow in the dark yarn in my opinion and read a scary novel. 

 

Alien Granny Square by Be Ewenique Boutique, see the pattern here. 

I also like this alien granny square by be ewenique boutique. It measures 5 inches wide, and is made with basic stitches so it’s definitely beginner friendly to make. It’s worked in the round, with the eyes worked and embroidered on to finish it off, and this one also has a video tutorial to help with each step of the way. 

 

Pocket Alien and UFO by Sweet Softies, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Pocket Alien and UFO by Sweet Softies. For this pattern there is a paid pattern and a free YouTube video tutorial. It was a crochet a long, so there are four videos to help with each element. It features a big and small alien, they work up pretty fast and to create it you start with the alien base, work the lines, and then the ufo base and add all the details. These would be so fun to create and display.

 

Alien Pillow by Alpakka Designs, see the pattern here. 

The alien pillow by Alpakka Designs is another fun one. It’s a pretty comprehensive pattern with 10 pages of clear instructions and step-by-step photos. This one is a paid pattern in their Etsy, and I love the big eyes with the little stars in the corners. 

 

Alien Appliqué by Dani Joan, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Alien Appliqué by Dani Joan. This one uses basic stitches with a bit of invisible decreasing, and it measures 12 cm by 9.5 cm. It’s worked in 9 rounds and then you work two eyes and sew them on as well as the mouth to finish it off. And you can add this to a sweater or bag, or anything you like to give it an alien charm. 

 

Granny Squares & Appliqués:

Frankenstein Square by Cyndie B, see the pattern here. 

First is the Frankenstein Square by Cyndie B. It’s a paid pattern and uses the overlay mosaic technique so it’s more intermediate level. It has a color chart and measures 13.5 inches by 13 inches if you use worsted weight yarn, and you can use these squares to make all kinds of projects like blankets, pillows, bags and more and if you need ideas on what to do with square like these check out my granny squares crochet project video after this one. 

 

Voodoo Daddy Skull by Cyndie B, see the pattern here. 

Next is the Voodoo Daddy Square also by Cyndie B. It uses the overlay mosaic technique too and so it would be perfect to create with the other square and use together in a project. And I loved the beads and stones they added as embellishments here, It would be so fun to play with that for a design. 

 

Skull Charms by Rajeshwari Singh, see the pattern here. 

Another one is the Skull Charms by Rajeshwari Singh. It uses the stacked single crochet to make, and there are a lot of pictures to help with each step of the way. It’s a free pattern on their website, and would be easy to quickly whip up and use it for a bunch of different things. 

 

Zombie Mouse by Dani West, see the pattern here. 

I also love the Zombie Mouse by Dani West. It only uses basic stitches to make and is more beginner friendly. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry, and has a YouTube video tutorial which is helpful if you’re more visual. It’s 11cm, and I love the little embroidered embleshments.
