Crochet Fashion Trends to Make in 2025 (Must-Try Styles!)
Crochet fashion is always evolving, and 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for fiber artists and trendsetters alike. I’ve been diving deep into the fashion world—scrolling through social media, analyzing trending search terms, and even taking notes during my travels to see what people are actually wearing. Plus, I’ll be sharing some trends I’m personally hoping will take off!
Fashion in 2025 is all about embracing individuality and creativity, which means the best trend to follow is the one that speaks to you. The more you put your own unique spin on a style, the cooler it becomes! That said, I love exploring trends for inspiration, and it’s always fascinating to see how they evolve. So, let’s jump in and take a look at what’s ahead for crochet fashion in 2025!
Rococo:
Rococo is an artistic style that flourished in the final phase of the Baroque era during the 18th century. Known for its elegance, intricate details, and playful charm, Rococo embraces a warm pastel color palette—think cream, pearl gray, soft yellow, and delicate light blue. This style celebrates opulence, feminine aesthetics, and, of course, all the frills and pastels!
When it comes to fashion, Rococo-inspired silhouettes are all about flowing fabrics, ruffles, lace, and corset-inspired designs. I think it would be so fun to experiment with this aesthetic in crochet—imagine layered lace pieces with tons of volume, delicate frills, and maybe even incorporating framework or petticoat cages underneath to create that signature structured-yet-whimsical look. There’s so much room for creativity here, and I’d love to see how this style could be reinterpreted with crochet!

Sea Witchery:
If you love mermaidcore but want something with a darker, edgier twist, let me introduce you to sea witchery.
This style embraces seashells, moody oceanic hues, that effortless wet-hair look, and an overall ethereal vibe. To bring this aesthetic into your crochet creations, you can experiment with shell-shaped bags, play with deep, mysterious ocean tones in flowy garments, and even create mesh or distressed pieces for added texture.

For an extra magical touch, try using openwork stitches for a sheer effect or incorporating shell and oceanic beads into your designs. Layering pieces over bathing suits is a huge trend right now, so why not put a sea witch spin on resort wear? Think sheer, drapey cover-ups, netted shawls, and statement accessories that channel the energy of the deep sea.

Check out the Mermaidcore Crochet Patterns blog post to see specific patterns to make and create them with the moody sea witch color palette to really embrace this aesthetic.
Castlecore:
Another trend that’s definitely going to take off is castlecore. With Renaissance fairs growing in popularity, what better way to embrace the vibe than by creating your own medieval-inspired crochet pieces? Castlecore, in particular, leans into a more gothic and knightly twist on the medieval era.
This trend is perfect for exploring your darker side and playing with the balance of masculine and feminine elements. Think of pieces a knight might wear—structured, textured, and bold. One of the coolest takes I’ve seen on this is a crochet knight armor set by Katelyn Tatay. The texture, the details, the structure—it’s absolutely stunning!

Another fun way to experiment with this aesthetic is by incorporating jewelry chains into your crochet. I’ve seen creators crochet chain hats, corsets, and bodices, or even design chain-inspired stitches and add beads for an extra medieval touch. There’s so much room to get creative with this trend!
And while this video is focused on fashion, I have to mention one of the most unique castlecore-inspired crochet projects I stumbled upon—a crochet chess set. I saw this while researching, and it’s such a brilliant way to bring the castlecore aesthetic into your home. So if you’re looking to extend the medieval vibes beyond your wardrobe, that could be a fun project to try!

Babydoll:
The babydoll style has been making waves on the runway, and I’ve especially loved seeing it with asymmetrical designs—it adds such a cool, unexpected twist! I also think this trend will be huge when paired with gingham patterns, lots of layers for extra drama, and for spring, in classic pastels, crisp white, or that super trendy buttery yellow shade.

Fisherman Aesthetic:
Another trend to explore in our crochet makes this year is something really interesting—Fisherman Aesthetic, or Fisherman Core.
This aesthetic is all about embracing denim, cabled knits, Fair Isle sweaters, and classic stripes. When I saw the stripes, I immediately thought of the marinière style—the iconic French wool top that originated in Brittany. Originally designed to protect fishermen from the wind and harsh weather, it later became the official uniform of the French Navy in the 19th century. Today, it’s a timeless unisex fashion staple, typically made of cotton and effortlessly chic.

Now, here’s where it gets funny—I’ve also seen this trend described as the Fish Wife aesthetic. My friends from the UK might get a laugh out of that since it has a very different meaning there! At first, the name had me skeptical, but once I looked deeper, I realized that this trend is basically a rugged spin on the classic coastal French style. The color palette is similar, but with a more utilitarian vibe—think wool, worn leather, netted textures, and sturdy boots or fisherman sandals.

So how can we bring this look into crochet? We can create mesh accessories, cabled sweaters, bucket hats, striped garments, and even Fair Isle sweaters in that earthy, fisherman-inspired color palette. And yes—you can crochet Fair Isle! If you prefer to crochet over knitting, definitely check out my Fair Isle Crochet Patterns Blog Post to dive into this technique.
Goddess Aesthetic:
The next trend we’ll definitely be seeing this year is Goddesscore. This aesthetic is having a major moment—Pinterest searches for Goddesscore are up 40%, while Goddess Energy Aesthetic has skyrocketed by 170%! It’s a beautifully ethereal and romantic style inspired by Hellenic, Roman, and Egyptian goddesses, with a focus on all gold everything.

Now, I’ll admit—I’m usually more of a silver person, but this trend has me wanting to experiment with gold pieces. And the best part? It’s so easy to bring this vibe into our crochet projects!

We can play around with gold crochet headdresses, flowy garments, and dreamy dresses—especially using thinner, shimmery, or metallic yarns to really capture that divine energy. Veils with delicate beading would also be a stunning way to embrace this trend.
So if you’re feeling inspired to channel your inner goddess, this is definitely the year to go for it!
Solarpunk:
Another trend that’s set to be big—and one I just recently discovered while researching for this video—is Solarpunk. And let me tell you, the moment I learned about it, I was obsessed.

If you’re familiar with Cyberpunk, which leans into a dystopian, tech-driven future, Solarpunk is basically the opposite. It envisions a utopian future where humans live in harmony with nature, technology, and each other. Think community-focused living, open-source innovation, floating villages, rooftop gardens, and an overall eco-consciousway of life. The fashion? Flowy, earth-toned pieces made from natural fibers, embracing sustainability and intentional consumption.

I love this concept and would be so excited to see it gain more traction—not just as a fashion trend, but as a lifestyle shift. And honestly, I’d love to incorporate more of this aesthetic into my own styling!
Minimalism and Maximalism is Evolving:
Two trends worth exploring this year are Maximalism and Minimalism—and it’s so interesting to see how both have evolved over time!
Maximalism: More is More!
In recent years, maximalism has been all about dopamine dressing—mixing and matching bold colors and patterns to spark joy and boost your mood. And guess what? It’s still going strong! If you love expressive, playful fashion, this trend is for you.
One of the biggest icons of maximalism is Iris Apfel. Her philosophy? Style is about self-expression, not age or convention. And I love that!
To bring this aesthetic into your crochet makes, try:
- Experimenting with textures and unique patterns
- Playing with eclectic, bold color palettes
- Designing something you’ve never seen before!

Minimalism: Effortlessly Chic
Minimalism is still thriving, but with a fresh twist—think Minimalist Boho. This style mixes vintage finds with modern, polished pieces. Picture a fringe jacket paired with sleek ankle boots, topped off with chunky jewelry or stacked rings for a touch of personality. It’s all about layering for depth without overwhelming the look.
Another take on minimalism that’s trending is Grunge Minimalism (or Soft Grunge). Instead of the oversized, distressed look, this version is more structured and polished—think flannels paired with tailored trousers or corduroys.
To bring minimalism into your crochet makes, you could:
- Check out my Grunge Aesthetic Crochet Patterns video for inspiration
- Keep it classic with modern, minimalist designs (I might do a full video on this soon!)
- Watch my Easy Crochet Patterns for Beginners video—perfect for simple, stylish pieces
Which style speaks to you more—bold and eclectic maximalism or chic and polished minimalism? Let me know in the comments!

Colors to Explore:
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I love bold colors and statement pieces. But this year, it seems like the overarching theme—especially for spring—is soft power.
So what does that mean for color trends? We’re seeing a mix of neutrals, candied pastels, and rich earth tones making waves. Some of the standout shades include:
✨ Mocha mousse – A warm, cozy neutral
✨ Emerald green – A deep, lush statement color
✨ Butter yellow & tangerine – Perfect for a fresh, sunny vibe
✨ Sheer dusty pinks – Romantic and delicate
And of course, True Red—which is always in—is really having its moment as the ultimate statement color. Dark denim is also trending, but honestly, is it ever not in style?

Sustainability:
🌍💚 Sustainability continues to be a major focus in fashion, and as crocheters, we can play a part by making conscious choicesin our craft:
✨ Use Eco-Friendly Yarns – Opt for organic cotton, bamboo, or recycled fibers to reduce environmental impact.
✨ Upcycle & Repurpose – Give old garments and textiles a second life by transforming them into something new.
✨ Mindful Making – Focus on quality, longevity, and timeless designs that will be cherished for years to come.
Lately, I’ve been diving into scrap projects and working through my acrylic stash, challenging myself to incorporate only natural and plant-based fibers from now on. I’m even looking into learning how to spin my own yarn—and maybe even grow my own! 🌿🧶 Getting to know the entire process of yarn creation feels like such an exciting journey.
I hope you’re feeling inspired to incorporate these styles, colors, and patterns into your own crochet projects! If you would like to stay up to date with everything here at Cactus Lady Creation, make sure to sign up for the newsletter.
