Bat Starry Night Tapestry Crochet Square | Spooky Saturday Series

Bat Starry Night Tapestry Crochet Square | Spooky Saturday Series

Welcome back to the Spooky Saturday Series! 🎃👻 Last time, we tackled the tapestry crochet technique to whip up a fun Jack-o'-lantern square, and now it's time to take things up a notch. 🧶✨

This week, we're keeping the spooky vibes alive with a brand-new bat square featuring a starry night backdrop. 🦇🌌 You all voted for the color scheme, and I couldn't be more excited to dive in with purple, neon green, black, and white—my new yarn just arrived, and I can't wait to get started!

I hope you love this pattern as much as I do. Don't forget to join me for the next blog post in the series, where we'll turn these spooky squares into a show-stopping cardigan! Be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel and hit that bell so you don’t miss a stitch. 🧛‍♂️🧵

How do you read a tapestry crochet chart like the one pictured above? Follow the five steps below in order to guide you.

1. Understanding the Chart Layout: The rows are represented by numbers on the sides of the grid or rectangle image. Stitch counts are indicated by the numbers on the top and bottom of the chart.

2. Starting Row 1: Locate row 1 at the bottom right of the chart. Begin reading this row from right to left, following the symbols or colors in each square.

3. Moving to Row 2: Identify row 2 at the bottom left of the chart.
Read this second row from left to right, following the symbols or colors.

4. Continuing Pattern Reading: Continue reading each of the odd rows (1, 3, 5, etc.) from right to left.Read the even rows (2, 4, 6, etc.) from left to right.
5. Color Switching: Switch colors according to the colors specified in each square.
Pay attention to the corresponding stitch numbers indicated on the top of the grid.

For example, for row 6 - you will read this row from left to right and stitches 1 through 9 will be worked with light purple yarn, 10 & 11 with black yarn, and 12 through 20 with light purple yarn.
