30 Solarpunk Crochet Patterns to Embrace This Utopian Eco Movement

30 Solarpunk Crochet Patterns to Embrace This Utopian Eco Movement

Lately I have been definitely obsessed with Solarpunk. It is a literary, artistic and social movement that envisions a future where humans, technology and nature work in harmony.

In contrast to cyberpunk which explores the intersection of technology, society and the human condition in a dystopian light - solarpunk has a more optimistic outlook, where humans address our impact on the environment and pollution and work together in harmony with nature and each other.

Aesthetically it draws inspiration from the bohemian style and embraces low tech ways of sustainability such as gardening, the open-source model, and DIY ethics.

The solar represents solar energy and renewable energy - rejecting doomerism and the punk refers to the DIY mentality.

Crochet is a perfect way to express Solarpunk, and I know that I will be embracing this style a lot in my designs in the future because I really love it.

If you want to get more inspiration and learn more about Solarpunk I highly suggest checking out the Solarpunk subreddit, this article on Earth.org, and Aesthetics wiki.

In order to really embrace the solarpunk style, you’re going to want to stick to sustainable yarns and natural fabrics as well as more earth toned color palettes and more organic shapes in your pieces.

I’ve separated all of the patterns into four different categories: Dresses, Tops, Bottoms, and Acessories. You can also find each of the links to each pattern I mention on my blog post, which is linked in the description box below. Alright, let’s get started.
