30 WITCHY Crochet Patterns for a Magical Summer 🌙 (Free & Beginner-Friendly Ideas)

Well you might like this Witchy Crochet Patterns collection that is perfect to make for Summer. So in this video, I’m going to share 30 FREE Summer Witch crochet patterns to make. I have free and paid patterns and have separated them into: Granny Squares, Amigurumi, Alchemical, Goddess, Tops, Bags and Dresses patterns, and you can check out the exact links to each of them on my blog which is linked in the description box below.


First is the Evil Eye Square by Khao City. This one is a video tutorial over on their channel, so that’s great if you’re more visual and it’s made in 6 simple rounds. It’s beginner friendly as it only requires basic stitches, and you could whip up a whole bunch of these and make so many things from cardigans to tote bags, and if you need some ideas of what to create, definitely check out my video “50 Crochet Projects to make with Granny Squares” next.
Granny Square:
Next are the moon phases granny squares by Craft Folk. It includes four different squares: the full moon, crescent moon, quarter moon and gibbous moon. All squares are the same size and have the same number of stitches in the outer two rounds, so they’re great to use in a project together. So this one would be a fun one to play around with creating a variety of projects.

I also like this sun and moon granny by Creggy’s Crochet. It’s made in 8 simple rounds, This one is a video tutorial on their channel as well and they have a paid pattern on their website if you prefer written instructions, the finished size is 13 cm by 13 cm, and I love balance of solar and lunar energy with this one.
Amigurumi:
First is this spell book by This Fairy Made. It’s beginner friendly to make and there is a YouTube video for this one and it’s free on their Ribblr. There is a book cover and pages for this and you can make it with a star or moon cover and this would be perfect to make and use as a keychain or bag charm even.
Crescent Moon by With Alex, see the pattern here.
Next is the Crescent Moon by With Alex. It measures 3.25 inches tall by 2 inches wide, and it’s worked in a spiral to create. It’s free on their blog and only uses basic stitches to make so it’s beginner friendly and then you have to fill it with fiber fill use the whipstitch finish it off. And you can make these and use them in a variety of ways from adding some yarn and making a whimsical display for a cozy nook to adding them as appliqué to a bigger project.
Moon Moth by Mabe Berrios Art, see the pattern here.
I also loved this Moon Moth by Mabe Berrios Art. It’s a 39 page pattern and is a paid pattern on Etsy, there are 200 detailed photos in this pattern and the finished pattern is 17.5 cm by 14 cm, if using the same weight of yarn they are using here. You need to know a mixture of techniques to make it including being comfortable with crochet, amigurumi knitting and be comfortable with wire and paint. It’s available in Spanish and English. But I’m sue that all of the photos will help and it’s definitely worth it.
Geode by Crafty Intentions, see the pattern here.
This Geode by Crafty Intentions is a really cool piece. There are three sizes and you can use glass crystal beads or pony beads to make it. It’s more intermediate level to make and there are 82 pages of written instructions including photos and video tutorials so it’s very comprehensive and is available in English, Dutch and Portuguese. And this one is a paid pattern in their Etsy.
Alchemical:
Rune Set by Karen Glasgow Follett, see the pattern here.
First is the rune set by Karen Glasgow Follett, it’s free on Ravelry and measures about 1.25 inches in diameter. It’s made with size 10 thread and a size 7 steel hook. It just uses basic stitches to make and you make the front and back stuff full with fiber fill and sew together then you need to be comfortable with a bit of embroidery because you’ll need to stitch the glyphs on. And it’s great because you also stuff them with herbs or oils as you like.
Alchemy Afghan Panels by Happy Hooker, see the pattern here.
Next is the Alchemy Afghan Panels by the Happy Hooker. This one is a lovely and this one are all charts and is free over on their Ravelry. The symbols included are for Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, Day, Night, Hour, Year, Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Gold and Silver. This one doesn’t include written instructions, so you will need to be comfortable with reading charts and you can do the tapestry crochet, intarsia or corner to corner technique and use it to make something.
Alchemy Squares by Jen Spears, see the pattern here.
I also liked these Alchemy Squares by Jen Spears. It’s free on Ravelry, and there are no written instructions for this one eye so you will need to be comfortable reading charts. The elements included are the Sun, Moon, Mercury and the Philosopher’s Stone. Then you can use the squares to make any project you like, and they made a tote out of them.
Alchemy Symbols by Merry Mandrake, see the pattern here.
The Alchemy Symbols Wall Hanging by Merry Mandrake is a great pattern as well. There are tapestry graphs for salt, mercury and sulphur which in alchemy it represents body, spirit and soul. It measures 19.5 cm wide by 60 cm tall, and the pattern is 13 pages long with graphs for right and left handed crocheters for making the symbol squares, and instructions with pictures for finishing the wall hanging. And this one is a paid pattern in their Etsy shop.
Goddess:
Filet Bookmark by Karen Glasgow Follett, see the pattern here.
First is the Fillet Bookmark by Karen Glasgow Follett. This one actually has three different patterns: a goddess, triple moon, and an ankh. These are free on their website, and it is being pulled from the internet archives so it is from an older website from back in the early internet days. All of them have written instructions as well as charts which is helpful, and you will want to stiffen the bookmarks, and these would be perfect to make and use to enhance your relationship with the magic of the books.
Goddess Inspired by Colette Miles, see the pattern here.
Next is the Goddess Inspired by Colette Miles. The special stitch used for this one is the 5 double crochet bobble, to create it you start with the body and create the head and it’s made in the round with a bit of decreasing along the way and you also insert a pipe cleaner and sew it to the sides of the body to finish it off and you could turn this one into a talisman or keychain or create it and put it on an altar or mantle.
Kali by Melbangel, see the pattern here.
I also like Kali by Melbangel. It measures 10.5 inches tall by 6.5 inches wide, and it’s a paid pattern in their Etsy. Goddess Kali is a major deity in Hinduism, primarily associated with time, change, creation, destruction, and ultimate liberation. Representing the fierce, ultimate feminine energy (Shakti), she is simultaneously a terrifying warrior who destroys evil and a deeply compassionate Divine Mother to her devotees. The pattern uses mainly basic stitches along with a bit of sewing and embroidery, and is quite comprehensive with 16 pages. And I love all of the details on this one, and truly believe this one is a masterpiece.
Flower Goddess Scarf by Renata Hodkin, see the pattern here.
This Flower Goddess Scarf by Renata Hodkin is also gorgeous. The pattern measures 12 by 96 inches but you can also adjust the length as you like. And this pattern is beginner friendly and has a lot of helpful pictures to help with each step of the way, and I love all of the colors that they made this one in.
Stoner Goddess Keychain by Krysta Mallory, see the pattern here.
Next is the stoner goddess keychain by Krysta Mallory. The finished piece measures 9 inches tall by 4 inches wide and does require being comfortable with working the front loop and back loop only as well as increasing and decreasing. This one is a paid pattern in their Etsy. And I thought this one was so creative and would be a fun make.
Baset with Cats by Maxine Shelley, see the pattern here.
Another great one is this Baset with Cats by Maxine Shelley. Bastet was an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with home, fertility and protection. She was usually depicted as a lioness or woman with the head of a lioness or cat. And she was a nurturing and protective deity who was revered for her role in safeguarding the pharaoh and the home, defending children and protecting pregnant women and birthsIt is made using the overlay mosaic technique, and measures 37 inches by 50 inches once complete, and this one is a paid pattern over on their Ravelry.

Here is another Bastet by Gretel Crespo, once complete this one is 35 cm and this one is a 14 page pattern and is available in English and Spanish. It’s more intermediate level to make, and this one has a lot of pictures to help with each step and I love how detailed this one is.
Goddess Bookmark by Karen Glasgow Follett, see the pattern here.
I also like the Goddess Bookmark by Karen Glasgow Follett. Depending on your gauge the goddess will be about 11 inches by 9 inches or 4 inches long and this pattern has two different goddess patterns with this one, and you could also make this one and use it as appliqué as well which would be fun. It’s a paid pattern on their Ravelry as well.

Filet Moon Goddess by David Laatsch, see the pattern here.
Here is a filet moon goddess by David Laatsch, and this one can be made with any size yarn or hook and will determine how big your piece is. This one is ranked more intermediate level because it uses filet technique to make and it’s a paid pattern on their Ravelry. And this one would be great to make and use as an altar cloth or wall hanging.
Tops:
Goddess Sweater by Desiree Schuler, see the pattern here.
First is the Off-The-Shoulder Goddess Sweater by Desiree Schuler. It’s created in four separate pieces that are sewed together to form the body. Then from there you form the yoke and collar. It can be made with 3/4 or long sleeves and comes in sizes XS to 4XL. And shown here it is worn off the shoulder but you can also create it to not be this way as well, and I love the details in this one including the open work on the sleeves, and it’s a paid pattern on their website.
Boho Goddess Crop Top by Jennifer Xerri, see the pattern here.
Or make the Boho Goddess Crop Top by Jennifer Xerri. There are sizes XS to 5XL and this one is a paid pattern in their Ravelry. It’s the perfect bralette to wear in the summertime and I love the openwork of the mesh design on this one but you can also modify it to have more or less coverage as you prefer. And I also love the tassel detail there in the front.
Persephone Top by Maya Luna Corazon, see the pattern here.
Next is the Persephone Top by Maya Luna Corazon. The special stitches on this one are the picot and half double crochet in the back loop only. And the sizes here are XXS to XL. This is a paid pattern on their Ravelry, and I love how this one can be worn on and off the shoulders, and it’s perfect to make and wear for Summer as well.
Boho Shawl by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here.
Another great pattern is this Boho Shawl by Yarnspirations. The special stitch used for this one is the picot stitch, and it measures 60 inches wide across the top edge by 27.5 inches long excluding the fringe. The v-shaped shawl is worked from the bottom up and I love how it combines simple stitches to create a design that looks more intricate than it is to create, and I love all the fringe on this one as well.
Witch Bell Sleeves by Lunar Rabbit Crochet DE, see the pattern here.
Here are some Witch Bell Sleeves by Lunar Rabbit Crochet DE that you could also make. It’s more intermediate beginner to make and there are a lot of pictures along the way to guide you in making it. This one is a paid pattern over in their Etsy, and I love how you can style this one in a variety of ways and love the shell stitch design on this one.
Accessories:
Fringe Bag by Yarnspirations, see the pattern here.
First is the Fringe Bag by Yarnspirations. This one is more beginner friendly to make and measure 8 inches by 8 inches without the fringe. The special stitches for this one are the split 3 together and split single crochet. To create it you work in the round, then shape the sides and add the handle and the fringe to finish it off. This one would be so fun to play with the colors and style it to give your look a little boho, earthy, and witchy charm.

Another great make is this Witchy Crossbody Bag by Alyssia Stacey-Orchard. This one is a paid pattern on their website and it’s fully customizable, you can choose the number of granny squares that you want and the bag length is about 12 inches long by 11.5 inches wide when the drawstring is open. And they have a number of whimsical squares that you can make this bag with which are all available in their online shop.

I also like this Tarot Card Mat by Darn Good Yarn. It’s made in the round using basic stitches and is a free pattern on their website. It would also be quite a quick make to whip up, and I loved the variegated yarn they used for this one, it really adds some interest.
Dresses:
Bell Sleeve Dress by TCDDIY, see the pattern here.
First is the Bell Sleeve Dress by TCDDIY. The special stitch that is required is the trinity stitch, and there is a full video tutorial on it as well on their channel. This one is free and more intermediate level to make and I love the bell sleeves and the hood on this one and how comprehensive this pattern is.
Deity Dress by Crochet with Tay 99, see the pattern here.
Next is the Deity Dress by Crochet with Tay 99. This one is a paid pattern on their Etsy, and the special stitch for this one is the single crochet 2 together. There are sizes XS to XXL, and It is more experienced level to make. They used around 5 to 9 skeins to make it and I thought it’s really creative making it with velvet yarn and love the open work around the waist on this design.
Backless Boho Dress by Martina Atan Crochet, see the pattern here.
This Backless Boho Maxi Dress by Martima Atan Crochet is also a great make. It’s made to measure and intermediate level to make. I love the long open back on this one and the lacey design. This one is a paid pattern on their Etsy and would be perfect to wear for vacations, festivals and any moment you want to wear something a bit more boho and witchy.
